Welcome to our biggest clay event we have ever hosted!
The Great Touci Pottery Throwdown is a live, high-energy ceramics competition bringing together professional potters, studio members, and the public for an afternoon of creativity, skill, and community. This is not a class. This is clay under pressure.
🔥 Competition Divisions
🏺 Student / Public Division, For current students or newer potters.
You likely belong here if:
• You’ve taken classes but don’t throw independently
• You’re still practicing centering consistently
• You’re comfortable throwing small forms (cups, bowls under 1kg)
• You’re here for fun and challenge
🏆 Open Division, For independent potters (non-students) who throw regularly on their own.
You likely belong here if:
• You can center 1–2kg confidently
• You regularly throw larger forms
• You trim clean foot rings
• You’re comfortable adapting under time pressure
🏆 Clay Challenge
Competitors will take on a series of timed pottery challenges on the wheel.
You can expect rounds such as:
• Throwing matching forms within a time limit
• Creating the tallest or widest stable piece
• Working with a limited amount of clay
• A teamwork-based challenge where you’ll switch or build together
Some rounds will test precision.
Some will test control and scale.
Some will challenge how quickly you adapt.
Not every participant will compete in every round — challenges will rotate throughout the event to keep the energy high.
Come ready to throw, think fast, and have fun.

Competitor entry is $10 per person.
Spots are limited based on wheel availability, so register early to secure your place.
Not competing? Come watch the action, cheer on your favourites, and see clay fly.
Spectators attend free.
A donation box will be open during the event in support of a local charity (to be announced). Contributions are completely optional but always appreciated.
