"I am a Beginner!": Level 1 Wheel Throwing Class

$399.00

There’s something magical about turning a shapeless lump of clay into something you can actually use every day. Our 6-week beginner wheel throwing course in Victoria, BC is designed for complete beginners who want to properly learn pottery, not just try the wheel once.

Starting from the very beginning, we’ll guide you through the full pottery process, including wedging, centering, throwing, trimming, making cups, bowls and plates, and glazing your own work. You’ll learn why things work, what to do when they don’t, and have plenty of time to practise along the way. We’ll make some good pots, probably make some questionable ones, learn from both, and keep going.

This course focuses on quality over quantity. By the end of the six weeks, you’ll select three pieces you’re genuinely proud of to glaze and fire — functional tableware made completely by you and impossible to buy anywhere else.

Our beginner wheel classes are intentionally capped at just 6 students, giving your instructor time to demonstrate techniques clearly while still providing individual attention when you need help. No previous pottery experience is required — this course is specifically designed to give you a strong foundation from the beginning.

All clay, pottery tools, materials, glazing, and firing for your three finished pieces are included. Your pottery will be ready for pickup approximately 1–2 months after the course, once everything has been completely dried, glazed, and fired.

Finished the course and caught the pottery bug? From here, you can continue into our Level 2 wheel throwing course, book extra drop-in practice time, or eventually move into a TOUCI studio membership as you become more independent.

No experience required. Classes are for ages 16 and above.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Cancellation requests must be made by email at least two weeks before the first class. Cancellations made within 14 days of the course start date are not eligible for a refund or transfer.

If you need to reschedule an individual class, please email us at least 48 hours before your scheduled class. Rescheduling is subject to a $30 administration fee per person and availability. If a private make-up lesson is required, an additional $85 fee per person applies. We recommend checking all eight course dates carefully before booking.

If TOUCI needs to cancel the course due to insufficient enrolment, we’ll contact you approximately one week before the first class with the available options.

Finished student pottery will be kept at TOUCI Ceramic Studio for up to six months after the course ends. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange pickup within this period.

You’ll receive an instant confirmation after booking, followed by a welcome email with class details approximately one week before your first class.
