Throwing Doctor — Private One-on-One Pottery Lesson

$110.00

Have you been working on a pottery technique that just isn’t clicking? Maybe you’re struggling with centering larger amounts of clay, pulling taller forms, throwing consistently, plates, trimming, posture, or figuring out why your pots keep ending up off-centre.

Welcome to Throwing Doctor, TOUCI Ceramic Studio’s private one-on-one pottery lesson in Victoria, BC. Think of it like a doctor’s appointment for your pottery practice: we’ll look at your technique, diagnose what might be happening, and work through the solution together. No health care card required.

Throwing Doctor is designed for potters who already know the basics and want focused, personalized wheel-throwing instruction rather than repeating an entire course. Before your session, tell us what you’d like to work on — photos or videos are welcome too — and we’ll match you with the instructor best suited to your goals.

Your first appointment is a minimum of 2 hours at $110 per hour and includes studio tools and 10 kg of fresh clay, with any leftovers yours to take home. You’ll also have unlimited reclaim clay to practise with during the session, and additional fresh clay is available for purchase.

This is primarily a skill-focused session, so we encourage repeating techniques, cutting pieces open, troubleshooting, and experimenting. If you make something you love, you’re welcome to keep it; firing is available for an additional charge. Trimming and glazing can be completed during TOUCI drop-in hours.

After your first appointment, shorter follow-up sessions may be available if you’d like to continue working on a particular skill.

Completely new to pottery? We recommend starting with one of our beginner pottery classes first. Not sure what you need? Send us an email and we’ll help you find the right option.

Classes are for ages 16 and above.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Cancellation requests must be made by email at least two weeks before your session. Cancellations within 14 days are not eligible for a refund or transfer.

Rescheduling requests must be made at least one week before your session and are subject to a $35 administration fee per person.

Finished pottery will be kept at TOUCI for up to six months. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange pickup within this period.

Have questions before booking? Visit our Pottery Class FAQ for information about classes, experience levels, finished pieces, rescheduling, studio access, parking, and more.
